Since our inception in 2002 as the first self-financing dental college in Kerala, a relentless drive for quality enhancement has been the hallmark of PMS College of Dental Science and Research. As a vision-driven institution, we prioritize maintaining the highest standards in education, patient care, and cutting-edge research.
First in Kerala: We were the first dental college in the state to achieve an intake of 100 BDS students (2011) and the first to obtain NAAC accreditation (2014).
NAAC 'A' Grade: Achieved a stellar CGPA of 3.10 in our second cycle of accreditation (2022).
National Recognition: Proudly featured as the 35th top dental college in India by the India Today survey (2022) and recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 (2024).
DSIR-SIRO Certification: The first dental college in Kerala to be certified as a Scientific Industrial Research Organization by the Government of India (2023).
Comprehensive Programs: We offer BDS, MDS across all eight specialties, and highly sought-after Para-dental Diplomas (Dental Mechanics, Dental Hygienist, and Dental Operating Room Assistant).
Our primary motto is to deliver world-class clinical services while equipping our students with advanced treatment strategies. To ensure comprehensive clinical training, students gain hands-on experience through the Comprehensive Clinic System, introduced in 2019, alongside targeted rotations in specialized units such as the Tobacco Cessation, Divyanjan, Aesthetic, TMJ, Geriatric, Implant, and Laser clinics, as well as the newly launched Max Care Clinic for expedited patient care. We continually embrace pioneering technology, having introduced periodontal microsurgery and CBCT imaging, and stand as the pioneers in Kerala to offer Laser and Implantology certificate courses. Furthermore, we have transformed our educational approach to be highly student-centric through our indigenously formulated Activity Based Learning (ABLE) system, cafeteria-model smart classrooms, and a strong focus on small-group, competency-based teaching.
As a thriving hub for research, our institution is recognized as a Ph.D. center by the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), proudly hosting 16 scholars across six departments. Our state-of-the-art Central Research Laboratory is backed by prestigious funding from the DST (FIST), K-DISC, KSCSTE, and the ICMR. Beyond the campus, our commitment to societal well-being is demonstrated through our SUSMERAM extension initiative. Through this program, we actively promote oral health awareness and provide critical health screenings to underprivileged communities and tribal areas, with a notable focus on outreach in the Vembayam Panchayat.
Deeply committed to environmental harmony and biodiversity conservation, PMS Dental College holds the unique distinction of being the First Green Audited Dental College in Kerala, awarded by the Nature's Green Guardians Foundation. We proudly maintain a Triple Green Certification, encompassing the Environment Quality, Energy Audit, and Biodiversity-Green Audit Certificates. Our per capita carbon footprint stands at an impressive 0.45 ton of CO2—well below the national average—placing us firmly on the path to becoming a fully carbon-neutral campus within the next five years. Key sustainability initiatives include an innovative, self-sustaining 18,000-liter Biofloc Aquaculture System that yields antibiotic-free Tilapia for our college mess, perfectly complementing our organic vegetable and herbal gardens. Additionally, our eco-friendly, battery-operated buggy service assists patients and students while reducing our carbon footprint by approximately 98 tons annually. This lush, litter-free campus is further enriched by rare exotic palms and Miyawaki forests, thoughtfully maintained by our institutional nature club, Club Green Guardians.
