Biochemistry is perhaps the most fascinating subject as it deals with the chemical language of life, be it human, animal, plant or microorganism. No other science subject has as much application as biochemistry to the disciplines of medicine and health.
The department of Biochemistry is committed in imparting detailed knowledge regarding biochemical pathways, various diseases at molecular level, diagnostic techniques and various areas of applied biochemistry. It also familiarizes lifestyle diseases in milieu and terrain of dentistry.
Highly qualified and dedicated faculties are the strength of the department. The department holds adequate infrastructure and library facilities for providing excellent training in basic biochemistry for both UG and PG students. The department also encourages the PG students to take up biochemistry related research program to enrich their academic and research aptitude.

The teaching modalities include lectures, lecture demonstrations, activity-based microteaching, practical demonstrations and exercises along with modern digital tools and platforms in teaching. This enables the students to apply basic biochemical concepts and knowledge in related medical and dental subjects in their higher classes.
The undergraduate program enables the students to gain the knowledge and insight into, the functional anatomy of the normal human head and neck, functional histology and an appreciation of the genetic basis of inheritance and disease, and the embryological development of clinically important structures. The department also encourages the postgraduate students to take up anatomy related research works to enrich their research aptitude.
We have Classroom Associated Laboratory System (CLAB) for providing an excellent learning experience to the students. The department collaborates with other departments for interdisciplinary learning experience. The department has a spacious dissection hall, demonstration hall, histology laboratory and anatomy museum.
