General Human Physiology
Physiology is the science of life. It is the study of how normal body works to maintain life. As far as physiology is concerned one needs to know what is normal in humans before studying about the pathological conditions.
In the Undergraduate curriculum, the students are made to understand the general health of a patient so that the students will be judicious in undertaking surgical treatments and prescribing medicine prior to dental treatments.
The faculties use various teaching methodologies (flipped classes, iPad teaching, MS PowerPoint presentation, animations, quizzes, seminars and activities etc.) which are of immense benefits for the students to develop interest and scientific approach among them.
The department of physiology has an excellent infrastructure and experienced faculties to aid teaching and research activities. Department is designed with AC class rooms integrated with laboratory (CLAB) facility. This helps the students to gain a deeper understanding to how physiological concepts apply to clinical dental practice. Well established departmental library with a vast collection of text books, reference books, CD-ROMs, journals and articles for UG & PG students.
The undergraduate program enables the students to gain the knowledge and insight into, the functional anatomy of the normal human head and neck, functional histology and an appreciation of the genetic basis of inheritance and disease, and the embryological development of clinically important structures. The department also encourages the postgraduate students to take up anatomy related research works to enrich their research aptitude.
We have Classroom Associated Laboratory System (CLAB) for providing an excellent learning experience to the students. The department collaborates with other departments for interdisciplinary learning experience. The department has a spacious dissection hall, demonstration hall, histology laboratory and anatomy museum.
